Aurora is a University of Saskatchewan haskap introduced in 2012 and selected for large blue fruit with mild sweet flavour and an upright form. It has become one of the most widely grown haskaps for cold climates.

These seeds came from Aurora parent plants. Seedlings will not reproduce the cultivar exactly and will vary in berry size, flavour, flowering and ripening time, and plant form. Many may retain large fruit, while their variation adds useful genetic diversity and pollination potential.

How to stratify seed

In the fridge. Put the seed in a bag with a damp medium such as peat moss, vermiculite, sand or coco coir. The medium is only there to hold moisture. Keep the bag in the fridge, above freezing, for the cold period shown, then sow.

Or outside. Sow the seed outdoors in the fall and let winter do the cold period.
