Propagation by Cuttings: Summer Field Notes
Field note · June 2026
year old haskaps
year old haskaps. in the first season they get an established root system and grow just a bit from their initial softwood cutting, sometime six inches. this spring once potted up they take off and with good conditions will grow a foot or two. here this boreal blizzard even has a couple of fruit, and you can see it's going to be a much larger plant by the end of the summer. this is the size you get as a two year old plant when bare root, or if you find something at a garden center in a gallon pot.
