Long lived native maple, best known as the primary source of maple syrup. Sap is collected in spring and boiled down for syrup and sugar. Native to eastern North America. Typically 60 to 100 feet tall with a broad rounded crown. Leaves are five lobed and turn brilliant shades of orange, red, and yellow in fall. Tolerates shade when young but grows best in full sun later on.
