Wolf Willow, also called Silverberry (Elaeagnus commutata), is a native prairie shrub or small tree with distinctive silvery sage green foliage. It is fully adapted to cold prairie winters and this seed was collected from local stands.
The plant forms broad colonies over time and is useful in naturalized plantings, shelterbelts, and wildlife habitat. Its pale foliage provides strong contrast with darker green shrubs and trees.
