Northern Gooseberry is a native gooseberry species (Ribes hirtellum). Its stems are mostly smooth, with only a few thorns at the internodes. The translucent green fruit has a sweet tart flavour.
Native gooseberries are adapted to the Canadian prairies and can add resilient habitat value for local pollinators and wildlife.
