Red Jostaberry is a thornless hybrid between Gooseberry and Red Currant. It produces large deep red berries with sweet tart flavour that ripen in midsummer.
Unlike Black Jostaberry, which includes Black Currant in its lineage, Red Jostaberry owes its colour and flavour to its Red Currant parentage. The shrub is vigorous, self fertile, and resistant to common diseases.
