Jostine is a later jostaberry release than the original Josta, with spreading branches and slightly later ripening. This vigorous thornless currant and gooseberry hybrid produces dark, nearly black fruit about the size of small gooseberries.
The sweet juicy fruit combines gooseberry character with black currant tartness. It ripens in the middle to late part of summer and is used fresh, in baking, and for jam or jelly. Jostine is described as resistant to powdery mildew and white pine blister rust.
