Pixwell Gooseberry is a compact, productive cultivar with fewer thorns than many gooseberries. Its small to medium pale green berries develop a pink blush as they ripen in mid summer. The tart fruit has mild sweetness and can be eaten fresh when fully ripe or used for pies, jam, and jelly.

The berries hang below the branches on short stems and are relatively easy to pick, which gave the cultivar its name. Pixwell also has useful resistance to mildew.
