Jeanne is a relatively new gooseberry variety developed for improved disease resistance, especially to powdery mildew. It produces medium to large dark red to purple berries that ripen in mid to late summer, with sweet tart flavour suited to fresh eating, jams, pies, and preserves.
Jeanne grows in full sun to partial shade and well drained soil. Its thorny branches can provide cover for wildlife and make it useful in hedgerows or mixed borders.
