Jeanne Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa ‘Jeanne’) - Zone 3

Jeanne is a relatively new gooseberry variety, developed for its improved disease resistance, especially to powdery mildew.   Produces dark red to purple berries that are medium to large in size. The berries ripen in mid to late summer, offering a sweet-tart flavour ideal for fresh eating, jams, pies, and preserves.

It thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, making it suitable for a range of garden conditions across Canada. The plant’s thorny branches provide excellent protection for wildlife and make it a useful addition to hedgerows or mixed borders.
