Grain Amaranth Seeds

Grain Amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus), also called Prince's Feather or Purple Amaranth, is grown for edible golden seed and young leaves. Native to the Americas, it was an important grain crop for the Aztecs, and the seed is rich in protein and lysine.

Plants reach 4 to 6 ft and carry dense burgundy flower heads that mature brown. They flower from midsummer until frost, attract pollinators, and tolerate heat and dry conditions.
