Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is a cold hardy perennial native to parts of eastern North America. Compared with Pale Purple Coneflower, it has shorter broader leaves and flowers about a month later. Its flowers and roots have a long history of use in tea and herbal preparations.
The purple flowers open through summer into fall. Seed germination is improved by fluctuating day and night temperatures.
