Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica) is a hardy perennial with young spring leaves used for tea, soups, and other cooked dishes. Cooking or drying removes the sting. Fresh leaves and stems should be handled with gloves and covered skin.

The plant accumulates nutrients in its foliage, and the leaves are also used to make liquid garden fertilizer.
