Northern White Cedar Seeds
Northern White Cedar Seeds
Pack contains: 200+ seeds
Northern White Cedar, also known as Eastern Arborvitae, is an evergreen conifer native to eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Its narrow crown has dense flat sprays of scale like foliage, and reddish brown furrowed bark turns grey with age.
The species occurs in wet forests and coniferous swamps but also grows on upland sites with consistent moisture. Some trees live for more than 800 years. Northern White Cedar has longstanding importance in Ojibwe culture, and its durable wood has been used for canoes, buildings, shingles, posts, and fencing.
It is also grown as an ornamental tree for screens and hedges, with many cultivars selected for size, form, and foliage colour.

How to stratify seed
In the fridge. Put the seed in a bag with a damp medium such as peat moss, vermiculite, sand or coco coir. The medium is only there to hold moisture. Keep the bag in the fridge, above freezing, for the cold period shown, then sow.
Or outside. Sow the seed outdoors in the fall and let winter do the cold period.
