Mongolian Spruce (Picea mongolica, Picea meyeri var. Mongolica) - Zone 2 - 50+ Seeds
Rare cold hardy spruce native to northern China and Mongolia. Grows as a medium sized tree, typically 50 to 70 feet tall, with a narrow conical form. Needles are short, stiff, and bluish green, giving the tree a dense ornamental appearance. Cones are small, cylindrical, and reddish brown when mature. Adapted to dry, windy, and cold steppe or mountain conditions, making it well suited to harsh continental climates. It is little known in North America but valued in Asia for reforestation and shelterbelts in arid regions.
Hardiness Zone: 2
Stratification Required: 3 weeks
