Early Blooming Lilac (Syringa oblata) is native to China and Korea and usually flowers one to two weeks before Common Lilac. Fragrant rosy purple to lavender flowers appear in large clusters.
The rounded shrubs have broad dark green leaves that can turn red to purple in fall. Plants tolerate cold and a wide range of soils and provide early season pollen.
