New growth on a rooted variegated lilac

this summer I was lucky enough to collect cuttings from some rare lilacs, you can see the small new leaves in this one which are new growth, a good sign after rooting softwood that it's healthy and building some size before going dormant next month. the one in the photo is a variegated lilac, possibly a rare variety named dappled dawn. as part of a conservation effort the accessions are being recorded and follow up photos next season of the flowers should help with a positive ID. lilacs can be propagated through cuttings they're just slow to root, the slowest of any plants I've tried at 10 weeks under mist with bottom heat for some cultivars. for the ones large enough to send out, I'll make some of the new lilac collection available in our fall sale starting this weekend in mid sept. I'm busy taking photos and counting all the plants this week to get ready.
