Ben Alder black currant produces uniform clusters of dark purple berries with concentrated juice suited to pressing, preserves, and freezing. The moderately vigorous upright shrubs are productive and keep a relatively narrow form.
Ben Alder has good tolerance to powdery mildew and leaf spot and performs reliably in exposed or closely planted sites.
