Zarechnaya, also recorded as Kompaktnaya, produces golden yellow pears that may develop an orange blush. The tender cream coloured flesh is sweet with a little tartness, suited to fresh eating and baking.
Harvest is generally listed for late August to early September, with up to about a month in cold storage. It needs another compatible pear for pollination. The cultivar has a compact rounded crown, but it is not a dwarf tree; finished size depends on rootstock and growing conditions.
Our fall trees are grafted on Ussurian pear rootstock.
Cold Hardiness Zone: 3
Botanical name: Pyrus
Rootstock: Ussurian
Pollination: Requires another compatible pear with overlapping bloom.
