Mulberries are rare on the Canadian Prairies, but you can grow them in sheltered locations.  White Mulberry is the most cold hardy of them, and the Tatarian variety is noted for being extra cold hardy.   We got the chance to try some this year from a local orchard growing some of these trees, they were 15 ft tall and surviving well in our climate, though we would recommend a sheltered location because they could be borderline cold hardy in zone 3 and might be better pruned as a bush.   Note that you need male and female plants to have fruit, and our seedlings will roughly be a 50/50 mix so we recommend planting several.

Native to northern China, the Tatarian White Mulberry is adapted to a wide range of soil conditions, from well-drained loams to more compact soils. The tree produces small, greenish flowers in spring, followed by very sweet, edible berries that ripen to white to pink in early summer.

Cold Hardiness Zone: 3-4
Mature Size: 30-50 ft tall, 30-50 ft wide.
