Swedish Black is a black currant cultivar of uncertain origin and one of the earliest ripening varieties. Its mildly sweet flavour has slight tartness, suiting the berries to fresh eating and drying. The cultivar is popular in Europe but less common in North America.
Swedish Black is distinct from the Swedish cultivar Ojebyn, which ripens slightly later.
