So Sweet produces small, rounded green pears with a very sweet flavour. The fruit is suited to fresh eating, preserves and jam. Canadian nursery descriptions place harvest in mid to late August, making it an early pear for short season orchards.
It is reported self fertile, although another pear flowering nearby can improve cropping. The fruit is best used relatively promptly, with cold storage generally listed at less than a month.
Our fall trees are grafted on Ussurian pear rootstock.
