Hinnomaki Red is a Finnish gooseberry with sweet tart red fruit on compact, thorny plants. In southern Manitoba, berries ripen in mid July and can be picked over a period as they colour.
Seed grown gooseberries will vary from the parent cultivar. Expect compact, thorny bushes, with red fruit traits possible among the seedlings.
