Common comfrey root cuttings to start new plants. Our nursery comfrey plants are seedlings varieties and can produce viable seeds. They grow very similar to popular cultivars like Bocking 14.  You can plant the root cuttings in the spring or fall and they’ll easily produce shoots and grow new roots, it’s the usual way that comfrey gets propagated.

Comfrey is a hardy perennial herb native to Europe, recognized for its large, lance-shaped, hairy leaves and clusters of bell-shaped flowers in shades of purple, blue, or white. It reaches a mature height of 0.6-1.2 meters and spreads readily, forming dense clumps through its deep, thick roots. Comfrey is well-suited to moist, well-drained soils and can tolerate partial shade to full sun. It is a valuable plant in permaculture and regenerative gardening due to its robust root system, which draws nutrients from deep in the soil, enriching surrounding areas.

Spring / Fall Planting: Plant horizontal 2-4” deep and at least 6-12” apart. In the spring new shoots will grow.
