American Wild Plum is a useful pollinator and a common rootstock for plums and other Prunus. Native to central and eastern North America, it also provides food and cover for wildlife.
Canada Wild Plum
Canada Wild Plum (Prunus nigra) is a hardy native tree of the prairies and parklands. These seedlings were grown from seed collected from isolated wild stands in northern Manitoba.
Oblong red and yellow plums ripen in late summer. Canada Wild Plum is useful as a pollinator for hybrid plums, as wildlife habitat, and as plum rootstock. It usually develops a more distinct single trunk and suckers less than American Wild Plum.
