Canada Wild Plum
Canada Wild Plum (Prunus nigra) is a hardy native tree of the prairies and parklands. These seedlings were grown from seed collected from isolated wild stands in northern Manitoba.
Oblong red and yellow plums ripen in late summer. Canada Wild Plum is useful as a pollinator for hybrid plums, as wildlife habitat, and as plum rootstock. It usually develops a more distinct single trunk and suckers less than American Wild Plum.
Pembina seedlings
These plum trees were grown from Pembina seeds. The seedlings carry Pembina's cold hardy genetics but will vary in growth, fruit size, flavour, and other traits.
Seedling variation creates opportunities to select new fruit qualities and adds genetic diversity to an orchard. The trees can also be used as rootstock for grafting other plum cultivars.
