These American Wild Plum (Prunus americana) seedlings were grown from seed collected locally in Manitoba. The small round red plums ripen in late summer and have tart flavour suited to fresh eating, jam, jelly, and preserves.
American Wild Plum is a useful pollinator and a common rootstock for plums and other Prunus. Native to central and eastern North America, it also provides food and cover for wildlife.
