Ben Tirran Black Currant

Ben Tirran is a black currant bred at the Scottish Crop Research Institute and introduced in the 1980s with parentage from Ben Sarek lines selected for late ripening and high anthocyanin content. Clusters carry medium to large berries with firm skin deep black color and high vitamin C; yields are good with upright growth suited to machine harvest; shows moderate mildew resistance and good winter hardiness in cold regions.
