hinnomaki red. collected some today at a local upick @riverbendorchards the bushes have a low growing form compared to other sprawling gooseberries, and they're characteristically quite thorny - but it goes along with them being loaded with fruit, and it's quite tastey. Ripe in mid July in southern MB, some of the shaded fruit was green so you can pick as they ripen through the season. that's a good quality for hand picking in your garden or home orchard, just watch the thorns. honestly I enjoy thorny bushes, the have a cool aesthetic
