Clove Currant (Ribes odoratum)

Clove currant is a North American ribes species with fragrant yellow spring flowers followed by late summer berries that ripen from yellow to black. Upright canes tolerate drought and alkaline soils; used for shelter, wildlife, and fruit. Fruit is tart to sweet tart depending on ripeness and cultivar.
