Crandall Clove Currant Seedlings (Ribes odoratum)

Crandall clove currant seedlings come from a popular selection of native clove currant with large, tasty fruit. The fruit is less astringent than typical clove currants and is quite different from black currants. Seedlings from this fruit will be genetically distinct, but should be quite similar.

Clove currant is closely related to golden currant (Ribes aureum), but has black fruit, and both have easy to identify lobed leaves. It has clove scented yellow flowers in early spring. Native to North America, it grows taller than average black currants, reaching 6-8 ft tall and 4-6 ft wide. Oak Summit has bushes more than 20 years old at the farm.
