Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera) seedlings were grown from seed collected locally in Manitoba. Young reddish brown bark develops the tree's characteristic white peeling surface with dark horizontal markings as it matures. The leaves turn yellow in autumn.
This fast growing Canadian native provides seeds, buds, and bark used by birds and small mammals.
