Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) seedlings were grown from locally collected acorns. This member of the white oak group can reach about 70 ft and live for more than 300 years. Its large acorns have a distinctive fringed cap that covers much of the nut.
As a long lived native tree, Bur Oak provides food and habitat for birds, squirrels, insects, and other wildlife. Its mature size suits parks, farms, and large landscapes.
