Bur Oak seedlings from locally collected acorns planted into small pots this spring. It belongs to the white oak group and is notable for its impressive size and longevity, often reaching heights of 70 feet. Some trees can live for more than 300 years. The Bur Oak is named for its distinctive acorns, which are large and have a fringed, bur-like cap that covers much of the nut.
