Feuerwerk tomato is a medium slicer known for its red yellow bicolor skin pattern that forms irregular streaks resembling a burst of sparks. Originating in Germany and circulating in seed exchanges by the late twentieth century, it represents a stabilized selection from older striped stock rather than a recent breeding line. Fruit typically reach three to four inches across with a round, slightly flattened form, separating it from larger bicolor beefsteaks and from the smaller striped salad types. The internal flesh is red with yellow marbling near the shoulders, and ripeness is usually judged by full color development rather than softness. Plants are indeterminate with moderate vigor and give a fairly concentrated midseason set. Compared with similar bicolor slicers, Feuerwerk offers more uniform sizing and a firmer texture that holds up well in mixed harvests.
