Bur Oak Acorns (Quercus macrocarpa)

Bur oak is the white oak that grows around our nursery. Our acorns come from local wild stands of large healthy trees that thrive in sandy soil and extreme winters.

These trees are long lived shade trees and can live for centuries. The acorns are mild for an oak and can be processed for food, and they also provide excellent wildlife habitat.

Planting instructions: fall plant fresh, or sow in pots and overwinter outside in a sheltered spot. Cover with mulch and add rodent protection.
