Cattail Seeds (Typha angustifolia, Narrow-leaved Cattail) - Perennial - Zone 3 - 1000+ Seeds

Narrow Leaved Cattail (Typha angustifolia) is a marsh perennial with tall reedy foliage and velvety brown flower spikes. It provides food and shelter for birds, mammals, and fish. The starchy rhizomes, young shoots, and pollen are also edible.

Plants grow up to 10 ft tall and spread vegetatively through rhizomes. This seed was collected locally in southern Manitoba. Cattail seed germinates best with warmth near 37 degrees Celsius and can take up to two weeks.
