Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) is a long lived tree native to eastern North America and the primary source of maple syrup. Sap collected in spring is boiled to make syrup and sugar.

Mature trees reach 60 to 100 ft with broad rounded crowns. Five lobed leaves turn orange, red, and yellow in fall. Young trees tolerate shade, while older trees grow best with more sun.
