Poblano is a traditional Mexican pepper from Puebla, best known as the fresh green pepper used for roasting, stuffing, and chiles rellenos. The fruit are broad, dark green, and relatively mild, with more flavour and sometimes more heat if allowed to ripen. When dried, poblano type fruit are commonly known as ancho chiles. This is a practical garden pepper for customers who want a real cooking pepper rather than extreme heat.
Origin and history
Poblano is a regional Mexican Capsicum annuum type from Puebla. Ancho refers to the dried form; pasilla is a separate dried chilaca pepper, though names are often confused.
