so wild Licorice is around in the forest here (southern Manitoba zone 3) seems it’s a cool permaculture plant with a root that somehow prepared tastes like Licorice and at the minimum it’s a nitrogen fixer. I’ve collected some seed and added it to our site in case anyone wants to try growing it #seeds #nativeseeds

Regaliz silvestre ( Glycyrrhiza lepidota ) recolectado de plantas nativas en el bosque alrededor de nuestro vivero (Zona 3b).
Es una planta perenne resistente que crece hasta varios metros de altura y tiene raíces leñosas comestibles con sabor a regaliz. Las plantas tienen vainas marrones cubiertas de largas espinas ganchudas. También son fijadoras de nitrógeno.
Zona de rusticidad: 3
Escarificación: Remojar en agua durante 24 hrs.
Estratificación requerida: ninguna
Almacenamiento: Mantener seco y fresco.
Instrucciones de plantación: plante en otoño en semilleros preparados o plante a principios de la primavera a 1/4" de profundidad y cubra con mantillo. Debería germinar en 2 o 3 semanas.
