One of the classic European dessert plums. Produces oval yellow green fruit with amber flesh that is very sweet, juicy, and rich in flavour. Fruit are firmer than many plums so they ship and store well. The cultivar group was introduced into England around 1724 by Sir William Gage, who obtained the trees from France. The English name “Green Gage” comes from him.
