Brad's Atomic Grape tomato is an elongated multicolor salad type characterized by its shifting green, purple, and amber tones, an effect enhanced by strong anthocyanin expression on the sunlit side of the fruit. Bred by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms and released in the mid 2010s, it arose from crosses within his striped cherry and high anthocyanin breeding lines aimed at producing a larger, firmer, more color-variable grape form. Fruit average two to three inches long with slight shoulders and a pointed tip, distinct from smaller grape cherries and from the rounder Indigo types that share similar pigments. Ripeness is signaled when green ground color turns olive to amber while the purple areas soften. Plants are indeterminate with vigorous growth and a prolonged set, and the fruit hold well due to their thick skins.
