A few useful details.
How should I arrange the nine plants?
Plant in groups of three. Space coneflowers 18 to 24 inches apart, beardtongue 12 to 18 inches apart, and Prairie Smoke 6 to 8 inches apart, measured between plant centres. Keep Prairie Smoke near the front and leave space between groups as they spread.
What kind of garden suits this collection?
Full sun and good drainage. These plants tolerate drier conditions once established, but the new plugs need regular water while their roots develop. Avoid ground that stays wet.
Will they all flower at once?
Not necessarily. Prairie Smoke flowers early, followed by its seed heads. Beardtongue and coneflower flower into summer. Timing varies with climate and weather, and young plants may not flower in their first season.
