Lee Red is a purple leaf selection of Prunus virginiana grown at Oak Summit Nursery. It has a tall, upright habit; two year old grafts on wild chokecherry reached about 12 ft. The fruit was fully black and ripe by the end of July, earlier than the Schubert type growing nearby.

These open pollinated seeds were collected from the Lee Red parent. Seedlings will vary and are not clonal Lee Red plants. Foliage colour, growth habit, fruit, and ripening time may differ.
