Kellogs Breakfast tomato is a large orange beefsteak originally collected in Michigan and brought into wider circulation through seed saver networks in the late twentieth century. It is known for broad, slightly flattened fruit that commonly reach one pound or more, with smooth shoulders and a uniform deep orange flesh. The interior is meaty with modest gel and a small core, giving it a denser texture than many other orange heirlooms such as Nebraska Wedding or Persimmon. Externally, the color holds a true orange tone rather than the golden yellow often seen in older midwestern strains. Plants are indeterminate and vigorous, maturing in the mid to late season and performing best with strong staking due to fruit size. In comparative plantings, Kellogs Breakfast tends to show better shape consistency and fewer radial cracks than similarly sized orange beefsteaks.
