Indigo Seeds

Indigo (Indigofera tinctoria) is a tropical shrub historically grown as an important source of natural blue dye. The leaves contain indican, which is fermented and processed to produce indigo pigment.

Plants have pinnate leaves and small pink to violet pea flowers. Indigo is not hardy in northern climates and is grown here as an annual or greenhouse crop.

Annual
