Godzilla is an heirloom cluster type that originated from German and Austrian material and was introduced to the seed trade by tomato breeder Gary Cass. It is closely related to Reisetomate and other Voyage style fasciated cluster tomatoes, but the exact parents have not been published; it is generally described as an improved selection with a more classic red tomato flavor rather than a defined named cross. Fruit are bright red mini slicers formed by 5 to 8 fused cherries in a single fasciated cluster, with full tomato flavor, moderate acidity, and better eating quality than typical Reisetomate types. Vines are vigorous indeterminate plants with regular foliage and very high yields of these showpiece clusters.
Compared with Phil’s One, which is a French yellow Voyage type created by Philippe Rommens from a documented cross using Reisetomate, Godzilla is red, a little simpler in structure, and leans more toward traditional tomato flavor rather than the sharper, more acidic yellow profile of Phil’s One.
