Black September is a black currant with firm berries and a sweet, aromatic flavour. It ripens later than many other black currants, extending the picking season with fruit for fresh eating, jam and jelly.
The shrub has an upright habit. Harvest dates depend on local conditions; Oregon observations place ripening in late July.
