Size

Champion is a historic English black currant associated with W. H. Dunnett. The berries have black skins and firm, aromatic, yellowish flesh, with a milder flavour than many black currants and increasing sweetness as they finish ripening.

The crop matures unevenly late in the currant season, providing several pickings rather than a single harvest. The bush grows vigorously with an upright to spreading habit.
