Black Hollyhock (Alcea rosea 'Nigra') is a biennial or short lived perennial with tall flower spikes. Its deep maroon flowers appear nearly black and have a contrasting pale centre.

Plants flower in mid to late summer. Hollyhock rust can mark the leaves in humid conditions, while the flowers remain useful to bees and other pollinators.
