Cold Hardy Grapes and Vines: Summer Field Notes
Field note · August 2026
Amur grape seedlings
amur grape seedlings, another very cold hardy wild grape species - Vitis amurensis - where the more common one around here is the wild riverbank grape V. riparia. both species can survive -40C once they've established. when you grow grapes from seed they need a long cold stratification period, these were started in late fall to time the germination for spring.
