Schroeder, often listed as Schroeder ND Hardy, is an old northern dessert pear associated with North Dakota and discoverer Art Schroeder. It produces large yellow fruit with sweet, melting flesh and relatively few grit cells. The pears are used for fresh eating and canning.

Published accounts place harvest in early September and describe early, heavy bearing. An NDSU trial later questioned whether its poor fruit represented the correct cultivar, so that accession is not treated as the standard for authentic Schroeder. Oak Summit will continue documenting this stock under Manitoba conditions.

Our fall trees are grafted on Ussurian pear rootstock.

Cold Hardiness Zone: 3
